Night nurse for sweet seven-year-old
We are a family in Golden/Lakewood area seeking LPNs or RNs to care for our seven-year-old daughter for overnight shifts 1 to 4 nights per week. Although she breathes through a tracheostomy tube, is oxygen dependent, g-tube dependent, and utilizes CPAP at night, she requires moderate interventions most nights: a few g-tube medications, one short feeding, intermittent water boluses, turning every two-three hours, and monitoring of her oxygen needs. She is a great sleeper and rarely wakes between 8:30 pm and 6:30 am. This means many nights you would be getting paid to study/read/knit/watch Netflix for much of your shift. Experience with CPAP or tracheostomies is helpful but unnecessary -- parents can train you extensively on her needs during initial shift(s). One or both parents will always be in the home (asleep) and ready to assist at a moment’s notice in the rare event she has a seizure or requires additional oxygen outside of normal parameters. Our daughter does sometimes require additional interventions (venting of g-tube, suctioning of trach, etc.). This is a great position for nurses going back to school. Our prior night nurse began working as E's caregiver during her last semester of nursing school. After she graduated and became licensed, she signed on with our nursing agency. Another nurse worked with E while in school to become a nurse practitioner. We are flexible on nights (Sundays, Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays are available). In a perfect world, you would work 7:00 pm to 7:00 am but we’re very flexible and willing to consider other schedules (i.e. 10:00 pm to 5:00 am, or 9:00 pm to 6:00 am). Our current nursing agency is MGA. Please contact Sarah to learn more about E.
